A few years ago I had the pleasure of photographing the wedding of Charley and Joe in beautiful Laguna Beach, California. Charley referred Elizabeth and Greg to me and I am thrilled that I will be shooting their wedding next October. Sunday after was a beautiful day in Huntington Beach and we got some incredibly fantastic shots. Little did I know that Elizabeth before my eyes showed what a natural she was in front of the camera, I always know it within seconds if someone is going to be that way. Call it photographer’s intuition, but I knew the day I met her at the wedding consultation that she would just light up when I started shooting.

They are a delightful couple and I look forward to getting to know them very closely over the next 12 months. I’m not ok with just taking a couple’s photos and then moving on, I want to be a part of their lives forever. This is why I work as hard as I do, because I got into this to make a difference in people’s lives. I ask God before every shoot to make it spectacular for whoever the client happens to be and that the beauty He sees in them comes through me and my work. I don’t say it often enough, but I am so grateful to God for allowing me to work at something I love.

RANDOM ACTS OF KINDNESS – WHAT A WEEK IT’S BEEN!

This has been one fantastic week! What started last Sunday with an out-of-this-world concert by David Cook @ The Taste of Newport in Newport Beach, CA has ended a week filled with new friends from all walks of life. All who share a common love and respect for a 26-year old man from Missouri who can sing like nobody’s business! Interestingly enough, the people I have been have come in contact this week are so completely different from each other. A young woman from Iowa, a CEO from Newport Beach, a life coach from Beverly Hills, an elderly couple from South County – this man’s fan base is unquestionably diverse and far reaching. I have so enjoyed meeting and talking to so many this week, but just when I thought it was coming to end I got a delightful email from a fellow photographer. It was so sweet, that I have decided to share it with you. Mostly so I can acknowledge fellow photographer’s who went out of their way to say “thank you” to me. Now it’s my turn to thank them. Here’s an excerpt from their email:

Hi Cindy,

My husband and I are photographers in Louisville, KY and I just found your David Cook photos on Facebook & Smugmug—LOVE them!

We attended his concert in May in Louisville, but weren’t allowed to take “pro” cameras into the venue. I was completely bummed.

Anyway, just wanted to shout out to a fellow photographer/Cook fan! There are so many bad, blurry photos of David online, that it was nice to see some great shots of him for once. Thanks for the eye candy!

DAVID COOK LIVE @ THE TASTE OF NEWPORT 9.20.09

I have had the pleasure of seeing this incredible man live now twice in the past few weeks and I simply can’t get enough of him. Earlier this month I saw him at the Music Box in Hollywood and he was phenomenal. He rocks my world! David Cook, American Idol winner season 7, is truly a star in every sense of the word. His rock and roll shows leave you breathless and wanting more. Being a photographer I usually shoot for everyone else, but tonight it was all for me and it was so fun! I wish I could see one of David’s shows every week, that would be my definition of a perfect week. The cougars were out in force tonight to see our beloved “Cookie” and he was on it! My dream job would be to photograph his shows all the time, but then would I really be able to call it work? Doubt it!
@thedavidcook – you are the greatest!!!!

BTW, I’d say the ten thousand times I voted for you after the finale was worth it……..most definitely worth it

Scott & Kendra Terry ~ The Wedding

It was a beautiful Thursday afternoon in Laguna Beach. An absolutely perfect day for a wedding! The location was Crescent Bay Point Park and for me it was quite significant to be shooting a wedding at that park. It was that very park not so many years back when I attended the wedding of my very dear friends. That certainly was significant enough, but there was more. It was on that very day that I decided that I wanted to be a professional photographer and from that day forward there’s been no turning back.

So now it’s Scott and Kendra’s turn and it’s MY turn to photograph them – how fun is that!! I actually hadn’t met either of them before their wedding day, usually I have either done an engagement session with the couple or met with them prior. To my delight, even though we hadn’t previously met I felt as if I knew them both very well. They have that special warmth that instantly makes you feel as if you’re family and a cherished friend. It was a second marriage for both of them, and together with their two blended families there are five children. They are all beautiful kids and all looked so happy to be together. What a pleasure it was to have been a part of it. Scott and Kendra, I wish you great happiness together!

Turning 13!!!!

Is it possible that my baby is 13 years old!!!!! C-R-A-Z-Y, isn’t it??!! So I took my daughter and 6 of her friends on a scavenger hunt at Fashion Island in Newport Beach. They had such a great time, it was an incredibly beautiful day and I had so much fine pretending I was 13 again. Seriously, it doesn’t feel as if it was that long ago that I was – scary! So here’s the funny part of how the day went. I spend hours writing out this perfectly-planned scavenger hunt so the girls will have about two hours of adventure. I hand out the instructions when we get there, they break into two groups and take off like mad cattle! I’m thinking, “Cool, I have a few hours to shop and catch my breath!” So, I wander into (what else?) a camera store, literally talk to a man there for 10 minutes when my cell phone rings. It’s the first group AND THEY’RE DONE!!!! DONE???!!! No, not possible! They ran like the wind, assuredly ignoring my directions, and finished in record time. I’m still in the camera store when they run in, dripping with sweat, red-faced and out of breath. Holy Cow!!!!! Did they ever get it wrong, they thought it was a race!!!! Even worse, they thought there was a prize for the team who finished in record time. Ok people, if you are planning on throwing something like this, please make sure you tell them to SLOW down and have fun!

CM Photo Jewelry Has Arrived!!!!!!

I AM SO EXCITED!!!! It’s long in the coming, but I am finally ready to officially launch my new photo jewelry! I have been working on this for a long time and have been privately making pieces for my clients and for gifts. They became so popular so fast that after much pressure from everyone to put them up on my website, I have done so. I can say that the line is most definitely still evolving and will definitely take on changes down the road, but for now there are at least examples for you to see to give you an idea of the different styles offered. In the weeks/months to come many more custom designs will be added. I wanted them to be one-of-a-kind and they are. They can be as individual as you are, made to your taste. I am working with a dear friend and very talented jewelry designer, Stephanie Olin of Stephanie Olin Designs. Her amazingly beautiful jewelry designs combined with my photo boxes are simply stunning. I can’t seem to go anywhere without being asked, “What is that neckace you are wearing? Where did you get it? Is that a PHOTO????!!!!!!” I mean it, it’s very thrilling to me every time I receive a comment like that.

The photo boxes look like 3 dimensional windows and make the photos stand in a such a beautiful way. They are made from crystal clear resin and are waterproof, very strong and made to last. The possibilities are endless as far as what can be created. Here are some more examples, I would love to make one for you!

Lauren’s Graduation

I was thrilled to bits when asked to photograph Lauren Paul’s graduation party. Thrilled on so many levels – the first being that I LOVE her family and consider them to be MY family. Seriously love them. Secondly, Lauren is incredibly beautiful and her boyfriend, Marc, is also incredibly handsome. I figured all-in-all it was going to be a home run sort of a party and indeed it was. It was hard to get Lauren alone, but I did manage to get a few fabulous photos of her. She just graduated UCSD and we are all so proud of her. Lauren, you’re gorgeous, thank you for being so fun to work with. I want more!!!!!!

Chris & Rae Lynn’s Engagement

Chris is an important person in my life and my son’s life. Chris is my son’s life group leader, the man who leads him and his 9th grade male friends through the challenges of being a christian teenage in this difficult world. He’s a rather important person in his life, I’d say. In the short time Ryan has known him he has had a huge influence on both his spiritual life as well as his growth and maturity into manhood.

Rae Lynn is a leader in middle school and is on staff at our church. Over the last few years I have had the privilege of watching her lead these kids with her amazing ability of making people laugh. She has this infectious personality, to be around her is pure joy – always. When it hit me that these two phenomenal people not only found each other but had fallen madly in love, I was so ecstatic, almost giddy! This is the first of two engagement shoots and I had the BEST time spending the day with them in beautiful Laguna Beach by the Montage Hotel. Chris and Rae Lynn, I am so excited for you both!! The best is yet to come!

Carrie’s Pregnancy Shoot

I was expecting it to be something special because this lovely friend of mine is so very beautiful. Pregnant with her 2nd child, a child she was trying to conceive for over 4 years and is in all ways a miracle baby, I knew it was going to be different. Why? Because we have been talking about it for years and years. When I get pregnant with our second child you and only you are going to do my pregnancy photos, she would tell me time and time again. I was excited because I had never done them before and had always wanted to. So, finally the day came and let’s just say everything was lined up perfectly for it to be the most beautiful, elegant, goose-bump invoking photo shoot ever. I wish for her a beautiful, healthy baby boy who will be born sometime around the end of December. May God watch over him always!
